We had a little spark
Enough to fill the dark with music and laughter
It grew into a fire
And turned into desire for love ever-after
You offered me a star
Angel that you are ... you showed me the way
You told me I could fly
I'm ready now to try ... watch me fly away ......
Remember what I told you
I can never love that way
I knew that I would hurt you
Keepaway .... Keepaway ....
We had a little dream
Enough to make it seem like nothing could stop us
We went a little far
Fell into the Star ... and now it's too hot for us
Remember what I told you
I can never love that way
I knew that I would hurt you
Keepaway .... Keepaway ....
Remember what I told you
I can never love that way
You knew that I would hurt you
Keepaway .... Keepaway ....

ABOUT THE SONG
In yet another peek into the songwriter experience:
Songs can put your innermost feelings and experiences center stage in the spotlight. Sometimes it's quite difficult to
sing about personal feelings.
This song is one of those for me.
I did something I really love in this recording:
I asked the musicians to kick up the angst in the end section. I told them I wanted them to get agitated somehow and
put it into the recording.
Then ... the end is a total release. Sad, empty ... yet somehow so relieving. After another wonderfully sensitive vocal
from Rob Trow, he buttons the ending with a little reminder of the song's message.
Special accolades must be given to Lee Gordon, who absolutely went to
Angst Central with his guitar work. When I listen to his guitar solos (there are two, both amazing) I feel exactly the
angst I felt when I wrote this song.
By the way ... if you're curious:
I did watch her fly away.
I watched her nosedive straight to the ground.
That's gonna leave a mark.
